02/16/10Passing of LFWT Historian - Chris Diercke
The South Sea Horizons- Lark Force Wilderness Track have been deeply saddened by the recent passing of Voluntary SSH-LFWT Historian - Chris Diercke who passed away in Brisbane on Sunday, 31st January.
Chris had just returned from an amazing journey to New Ireland and Rabaul with his two sons Kurt and Ryan in January 2010. During this trip the family lay the headstones and ashes for Chris father (Rudi Diercke) and younger brother, in the old family estate at Kuradui which belonged to Richard and Phoebe Parkinson during the German Administration period. Phoebe parkinson was the younger sister to Queen Emma Coe of the South Seas.
The SSH-LFWT hold Chris in high regard as he played a very key role in the development of the Lark Force Wilderness Track, first joining the team in November 2007. Chris was involved in the compilation of the Lark Force History and data and in the training and development of the local bainnings porters.
Please find attached an official letter from Lark Force Wilderness Track office, thanking Chris for his hard work to the LFWT initiative.
